- The adoptive family must have an approved home study, current within one year prior to placement of the child. This home study must include background checks through law enforcement and child protective services, and must be done by a licensed child placing agency.
- If married, both husband and wife must participate in the adoption.
- The adoptive family must be residents of the state of Nebraska.
- Nebraska follows all the regulations of the Interstate Compact on Placement of Children.
